Marriage is an institution that has changed very much over the ages and it has been altered drastically in order to satisfy modern requirements. There are elements of the wedding ceremony that have survived unchanged until today while there are some other elements that would be unrecognizable to a time traveler. There have been periods through time when the trends in wedding bands have changed, but most people in any particular age followed the particular pattern without any hesitation. It is not so these days and people who plan to get married have a bewildering array of wedding rings to select from.
